Course Description

Building on the foundation established in Biblical Counseling Skills I, this course offers a deeper exploration of counseling techniques within a faith-based framework. Drawing upon the principles outlined in Skills for Effective Counseling: A Faith-Based Integration by Nesbit Sbanotto, Davediuk Gingrich, and Gingrich, students will further develop their ability to integrate Biblical perspectives into counseling practice through a combination of theoretical learning and practical application. This course focuses on the four other phases of the counseling process: The Support Phase, The Breakthrough Phase, The Empowerment Phase, and The Completion Phase.

Key topics in Biblical Counseling Skills II
include empathy, Solution-Focused Counseling, Motivational Interviewing, compassionate counseling, and interventions that empower individuals. Students will actively engage in interactive discussions, case studies, role-playing exercises, and reflective activities throughout the course to enhance their understanding of faith-based counseling practices. By the end of the course, participants will have refined their counseling skills, gained a deeper understanding of the intersection between faith and counseling, and be equipped to provide practical, compassionate, and ethically sound counseling services in a Christian context.
